One of the best parts of being a parent is the chance to go through life again--with eyes of a child. Learning to slow down and recognize the simple truths amidst the chaos and clutter of our lives.
Seeing the beauty in the small things and believing in those magical moments all over again...
Things seem to grind to a halt this time of year...people are kinder and things just seem so peaceful. We get to catch our breath before we head into a busy new year. And, one of my favorite parts of the holiday is the extended time away, which means Christmas cheer spans several days.
Unfortunately, this year we've been spreading more than Christmas cheer. Everyone got sick at least once and we are starting up round two, which is probably a good indication that it is time to head home. But, the week has been filled with much more than sickness. The kids had such a great time playing together that they were requesting naps and bedtime from happy exhaustion.
Seeing life through a child's eyes certainly makes everything sweeter. But, one of my favorite parts of this season of life is seeing it from my parents' perspective. Finally realizing and understanding all they have done to create meaningful traditions all our lives. So, even though we tease Mom for not letting go, it is really because of her commitment to teach us how to believe in something more than ourselves...in something we can't see or touch...that has truly mattered.
Afterall, that's what we need to have faith in God, each other, ourselves...and in LOVE.

Beautiful post, Becca! Love the picture of your tree and of you and Owen!
