We have been "introducing the potty" for quite some time now. He showed interest around 20 months when his older cousin Louisa was going and we just kind of went with it from there. He does a good job of going at home and has recently started asking to go, on occasion.
But, after talking to other moms, we were planning to wait until after the new baby arrived to start getting serious about potty training. Here we are with just over a week before the arrival of #2, we've gone diaper-free. Cold turkey. So much for trying to keep things calm and stress-free! But after talking with the sitter and noticing some signs from him, we didn't want to hold him back if he was ready.
He was super excited to wear his new Mickey Mouse Big Boy Underwear.
Then he got annoyed with the picture taking and just wanted to get dressed!
So far no accidents (this is only day 2). For some reason, he's been refusing to go at the sitter's. But we finally worked through that today and are hopeful that it continues to get better.
Owen is so proud of himself and doing a great job. It is so hard to believe how quickly he is growing up. Oh how we love him...

He's an amazing little guy! Elijah wasn't fully potty trained until he was almost 3 1/2 (after Cecilia was born!) and Emmett followed only about six months later, when he was 2 1/2. Cecilia is 21 months and she sits on the potty and does #1 a couple of times a day, so I'm hoping we can get her trained around 2, since girls are generally a little faster than boys. We'll see! Good luck with going diaper-free!
