Anything But Ordinary

Life is full of moments that might seem ordinary at first glance. But, when we pause long enough to savor their sweetness, we realize they are anything but ordinary. They are the moments that connect our souls and build family traditions or childhood memories. Like the times we are cuddled up reading stories together, taking walks, or rocking out to our favorite songs in the car. When we break the rules and eat another cookie, lick the batter, or stay up late.

Or, when we witness their amazing personalities start to blossom. Like, the way Nora's eyes light up when she hears music.  She stops whatever she is doing, locks eyes with you and gets a huge grin on her face.  Then, she promptly starts bouncing up and down. Or the way she smiles and smacks her lips on command when you ask for kisses.

T
oday while Owen and I were reading stories, she kept trying to get our attention and would lay down on her belly and put her head down, pretending to sleep.  We'd say "Night-night, Nora" and she'd giggle and do it again.

Owen has been coming up with creative ways to keep himself up at bedtime. The other night we found him in the bathroom, covered in band-aids because "his legs hurt from playing too much":

Last night we had a similar scene, except it was stickers...all.over.his.face.  Despite the temptation, we resisted capturing that on camera lest we encourage it.  But, it was pretty difficult to keep a straight face!

And then there are those moments that make your heart skip a beat.  Like, when we were on a walk and Owen grabbed my hand, looked up at me and said, "Mommy, I'm so happy right now because I'm with you".

No, these moments are anything but ordinary!
